UMass Lowell Research Center
(Littleton Robotics Scrimmage)
As part of our efforts to build a community, learn and spread our experience with others, apart from building a website, and producing our materials for it, we have been visiting area universities and interviewing experts in the field to gain more knowledge. Some of our efforts so far are below.
Our robotics lab at the middle school was made possible by our FTC High School team, and their incredible coach! We interviewed the High School coach to see how they built our lab, how they started the program, and what kind of fundraising they did. This is some parts of our interview that other teams may find helpful.
At the BU Robotics lab, we had professors and graduate students from BU, MIT and UDel teach us a lot of physics! We saw the following three presentations before we saw the micro-robots and the macro-robots.
Here we learned about Magnets and Magnetism, so we could later see how the micro-robots have a role in the medical field with targeted therapy.
Here we learned about how microrobots can treat small issues in the body that we cannot see. For example, how microrobots can remove blood clots inside the body.
We also learned about Macrorobots, and how they are coded and run in a big lab space!
We were one of the very few people who got to run a a micro-robot with an Play Station 4 controller!
Thank you to Professor Calin Belta, the director of the BU Robotics Lab for inviting us to his lab, and organizing such a wonderful event for us!
We were invited by FLL to help kick off STEM week with Lt. Governor Driscoll and Secretary of Education, Patrick Tutwiler.

Presenting our robot at our table
We presented our robot and shared our experience with FLL to many members of the community.

Being interviewed
We were also interviewed by WBZ News Radio.
